Listener questions
- What is Purr FM?
- A free online lofi radio station with five channels: Morning, Rainy, Late Night, Seasonal and Sleep. Every song is by Purrple Cat, and every channel runs on a schedule of three-hour shows that follows your own local time.
- How does the schedule follow my local time?
- Each channel’s running order is worked out from your local date and clock, so the song that’s on air depends on what time it is where you are. Tune in at 9:40 PM and you join the 9 PM show part-way through its current song, just like turning on a radio.
- What plays on the Seasonal channel?
- It changes with the month on your calendar: winter songs from December to February, spring from March to May, summer from June to August, autumn in September and November, and spooky songs all through October.
- Is Purr FM free? Can I use it on stream?
- Yes. Listening is free, and every song is a Purrple Cat Self Release, free under CC BY 4.0 on social media and livestreams with the credit “Music by Purrple Cat”. Never re-upload the songs to music streaming services, and never register them in Content ID. Purrple Cat Self Releases are never in Content ID.
- Can I download the songs?
- Yes. Every channel page lists its full rotation with free MP3 downloads, and the player has an MP3 button for whatever is on air.
- Does the music have vocals?
- Nearly all Purrple Cat music is instrumental. The Memories EP and Please Hold Me have vocals, and they’re never on the Sleep channel.
- Who makes the music?
- Purrple Cat is a solo lofi project that started in December 2018. Produced 500+ songs with 500+ million streams. Featured in Disney, League of Legends & Rocket League.
